2021 — A Summer of Coming Out of the Pandemic
Though it looked like Bayside Arts might be able to resume its regular summer programming as more and more people got vaccinated against Covid-19 and state and local governments began to open up once again, our hosts at the Northport Village Corporation decided to wait until later in the spring to reassess their guidelines for use of the Bayside Community Hall. Therefore, the Bayside Arts Board again met via email and decided against Community Hall programming for the summer of 2021, since there would be little time to plan a season if the NVC relaxed their guidelines for the use of the Community Hall performance space.
However, we have planned an exhibit of photographs of Bayside resident (and frequent contributor to the Bayside Picture-of-the-Day) Steve Nelson, from Aug. 5–15 in the gallery on the lower level of the Community Hall, since we can do that and meet the NVC guidelines. Look here for further information in July.
We hope that we can resume our normal programming in 2022 and appreciate your support, good wishes, and sticking by us during these trying times.
Information regarding all Bayside 2021 events (not exclusively Bayside Arts-sponsored events) is available on the Bayside Maine website.
Bayside Arts is a Maine non-profit organization formed in 2015, inspired by the successful program of Bayside Centennial events that were offered during the summer of 2015.
To promote and facilitate the arts in Bayside and in the wider community.
The 1915 Charter from the Maine State Legislature to the Northport Village Corporation (NVC, Bayside) states that one of the functions of the Corporation is “to contribute features of an entertaining nature during the months of June, July and August [and] to license entertainments of a character not forbidden by law…”
What We Do
Bayside Arts produces a yearly series of programs and exhibitions in Bayside’s Community Hall for summer residents and visitors to Bayside and the surrounding communities. Programs include music, plays, lectures, readings, dance and other programs of interest to the Bayside community. Bayside Arts also schedules summer exhibitions consisting of fine art or other material. A six-week series of art classes for kids has been a popular offering.
