2020 – The Summer of the Pandemic…

Early in the spring of 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic was developing and many states were instituting policies to slow the spread of the disease, the Bayside Arts board met via email to consider options for the upcoming season. We were well through planning our season’s programs, and had already booked several programs and an exhibit.

In light of current realities resulting from state and local responses to this pandemic, the board has decided to cancel our 2020 season. We are sad that many popular events will not happen this summer, but are hopeful that by next summer we will be able to resume bringing jazz, folk and classical music, film, dance, visual arts, and other events to Bayside.

Taking a cue from our friends at the Northport Yacht Club, the Bayside Arts Board voted to contribute $1000 to the Northport Food Pantry, whose work during these troubled times is needed more than ever before. We will not send out a membership appeal this year. We hope that you will, instead, contribute to the Food Pantry. Their address is Northport Food Pantry, PO Box 27, Lincolnville, ME 04849.

The Bayside Arts board and membership looks forward to better days ahead. Please stay well!

Bayside Arts is a Maine non-profit organization formed in 2015, inspired by the successful program of Bayside Centennial events that were offered during the summer of 2015.

Our Mission:
To promote and facilitate the arts in Bayside and in the wider community.

The 1915 Charter from the Maine State Legislature to the Northport Village Corporation (NVC, Bayside) states that one of the functions of the Corporation is “to contribute features of an entertaining nature during the months of June, July and August [and] to license entertainments of a character not forbidden by law…”

What We Do

Bayside Arts produces a yearly series of programs and exhibitions in Bayside’s Community Hall for summer residents and visitors to Bayside and the surrounding communities. Programs include music, plays, lectures, readings, dance and other programs of interest to the Bayside community. Bayside Arts also schedules summer exhibitions consisting of fine art or other material. A six-week series of art classes for kids has been a popular offering.
